We are Ken and Kay and we came to live here in Portugal in 2008.

The name Caracara is that of a bird of prey found in the Falkland Islands where Ken served as an Army officer in what seems like a lifetime ago.

Whilst on one of the hill top sites he saw a Caracara land on a nearby rock and stare straight at him. He threw it a small piece of corned beef, which it ate and flew away.

This became a regular occurrence and ever since we have called the house we live in Caracara.

Kay was a Community Nurse in her home town of Aberdeen.

We have a Siamese cat which we have named Poppy.

We love to walk in the surrounding countryside and have recently bought an inflatable canoe, which we take up the river at the bottom of the garden and also onto the Castelo de Bode lake, which is located just a 5 minute drive from us.
